Ok I like to ask the question why a lot. It means so much when you understand why someone or a company do something or you understand why you should do something. So back 24 hours ago when this site was called www.insomniachat247.com I had a page that described why it was called that. The only problem was that the name was still confusing people, and I can understand why, but in all honesty it was conceived one night when I had a serious lack of sleep and way too much to drink and insomnia chat 247 seemed like a good name. The dream was, and still is, to create a community that is live 24 hours a day 7 days a week so that whenever we can’t sleep we have a like minded person or a person that understands insomnia to talk to.

The thing is with a name like that people assume when joining that that already exists that the number of members or the infrastructure behind the site is robust enough to have a live administrator 24 7. And trust me if I had the money to not need to earn a living (as this don’t pay well) I would just run this site 24 7. But the reality is that I cant.

I had also been reading a lot of negative feedback about how for a chat site of insomniacs there didn’t seem to be a lot of people on etc etc and quite frankly I was getting tired of explaining myself and the situation but then realisation also set in. The site had lost its focus…… it had done so because it never really had one other than as a toy for me and a playground in which to play in but somehow along the way I had created a site that meant something.

So why the name change from insomniachat247.com to www.insomnialife.com ? well a few reasons.

  1. I cannot be on the site 24 7
  2. The name was causing confusion
  3. The site was becoming unfocused and confused
  4. And I want to help people lead a good healthy life even with insomnia

I still want it to become a thriving social network and hopefully the forwarding will work for the old domain soon so fingers crossed there. If I have to start from scratch again and get new members then fine. This time round I am taking it more serious J
